Health Ministry
There is an exciting new
ministry taking shape at First Presbyterian
Church. In an effort to be more intentionally a
part of Jesus’ ministry of healing and
wholeness, we have started a
Health Ministry.
Health Ministry focuses on health promotion
within the context of the values, beliefs and
practices of a faith community.
The
Health Ministry committee (made up of
physicians, nurses, and those involved in the
church and community in related ways) has met to
explore how the church can be involved in caring
for the whole person—body, mind and spirit. We
have come to understand that Health Ministry, or
parish nursing, is one response that a church
can make in attempting to reclaim its place in
healthcare and to insure that faith and hope
continue for those in need of our care. With a
health ministry program, faith communities can
become places where people are encouraged and
supported in their efforts to lead healthy
lives.
